UTS:Engineering supports:

  • K-12 teachers, community educators and their students: Our engineeringLinks program links teachers, school students, our students and engineers to develop a better understanding of the role of engineering in our lives.
  • Women in Engineering: Prospective and current women in engineering are particularly supported in their studies through a Women in Engineering unit within the Faculty.
  • Indigenous Engineers: The UTS Engineering Woomera Project encourages and supports students from an Indigenous background by maintaining links with Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning and by participating in outreach programs to indigenous communities.
  • Disadvantaged communities among Australia's neighbours: The Faculty links with a non-profit development assistance agency (APACE), specialising in appropriate technologies for developing village communities.
  • Professional bodies and their members: The Faculty supports staff who serve on expert committees to develop appropriate standards, policies, advocacy reports etc. Such staff often work in voluntary capacities within professional bodies such as Engineers Australia.
  • Disabled or disadvantaged Australians: The Faculty through its professional staff, helps to improve the quality of life of disabled people, autistic children and other disadvantaged groups within society.
  • Non-profit community groups within Sydney: Faculty members work through UTS Shopfront , providing professional services to assist local groups with socially or environmentally targeted projects.
