UTS:Engineering supports:
- K-12 teachers, community
educators and their students: Our
engineeringLinks program
links teachers, school students,
our students and engineers to develop a better understanding of the
role of engineering in our lives.
- Women in Engineering:
Prospective and current women in engineering are particularly
supported in their studies through a
Women in Engineering unit within the Faculty.
- Indigenous Engineers: The UTS
Engineering Woomera Project encourages and supports students from an
Indigenous background by maintaining links with
Jumbunna Indigenous
House of Learning and by participating in outreach programs to
indigenous communities.
- Disadvantaged communities among
Australia's neighbours: The Faculty links with a non-profit
development assistance agency (APACE),
specialising in appropriate technologies for developing village
communities.
- Professional bodies and their
members: The Faculty supports staff who serve on expert
committees to develop appropriate standards, policies, advocacy
reports etc. Such staff often work in voluntary capacities within
professional bodies such as
Engineers Australia.
- Disabled or disadvantaged
Australians: The Faculty through its professional staff, helps
to improve the quality of life of disabled people, autistic children
and other disadvantaged groups within society.
- Non-profit community groups
within Sydney: Faculty members work through
UTS Shopfront ,
providing professional services to assist local groups with socially
or environmentally targeted projects.
