Our industry placement program is notable for its many successes, and the rewarding experience gained by both the student and the industry partner.

We have several options for employers.

Internships - About 88 percent of UTS:Engineering students are already employed by the time they graduate*. In fact, 2/3's choose to work for companies with whom they spent one of their internships.
All engineering students integrate two six-month periods of paid engineering internship into their degree, which gives internship employers plenty of time to consider and assess a student as a potential future employee prior to graduation. Offering one of our students an internship has become a key recruitment strategy for employers.

Interns offer a flexible and cost-effective way of resourcing your business during peak periods, or when special projects require extra staff. Interns are well-educated, and skilled self-starters who can immediately contribute to your workplace.

Cooperative Scholarships - As an industry partner you can join with us to support a student for their first year of study, or in their continued study. Our cooperative scholarships program has been an outstanding success, and is now supported by numerous industry sponsors. By providing a scholarship you develop ongoing links, as well as gain access to a selection of top undergraduates, scholarship recipients, and others for internships in your workplace. Support for cooperative scholarships are tax-free.

Capstone students - ?Capstone? is the term for the major final year project undertaken by our engineering students, and is completed over a 6-12 month period. A significant number of these projects are backed by an industry sponsor or employer. Support for a Capstone student can help you to staff one of your in-house projects over the short term. You also gain access to expert staff and advanced facilities at UTS.

Interesting projects can sometimes be completed  ? many students would like to work on an interesting and relevant project based on a current industry problem or need. If your company has such a project, then contact us with details and we can promote relevant projects to students. If you pay a student to do your project ? this is a very affordable / cost-effective way to get projects completed on time within the current financial year. Otherwise, projects can often be completed by students whilst working for your company part-time ? this is a good way to keep in contact with students whom you regard as potential future employees.

FREE ACCESS TO FACILITIES ? The student completing your project will receive advice and supervision from highly qualified academics who are often leaders/experts in their field. Students have access to the advanced facilities and laboratory equipment at UTS (which would otherwise need to be hired by your company). This makes these projects affordable and achievable in this year's budget.

For further details please contact the capstone project coordinator on 9514 2368.

Graduates- Since 88% of our students are employed before graduation, the most effective graduate recruitment strategy is to employ students before they graduate via our Internships program. We find that most employers have already made their selection well in advance of official graduation.
If you need a graduate NOW, then you can promote your job vacancies through the University's Central Careers Service. The IPU provide the service of advertising these positions for UTS industry partners, please email your ads to internships@eng.uts.edu.au
